Product Description
Studio Ghibli has produced many topical and hit works in the Japanese animation world. We have published a complete collection of storyboards for the animated films for the theater that Studio Ghibli has worked on so far.
A storyboard is, so to speak, a blueprint for a movie. It is also a rendering that is more concrete by dividing the scenario into frames with pictures. It is indispensable in this field where the division of labor of production is remarkable, and it also plays a role of accurately communicating the image of the work held by the director and director to the staff.

The first volume of the complete works is "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" (released in 1984), which spread the name of Hayao Miyazaki. The storyboard was written by him, who is also the original author. It's like reading another original manga. Rough brush strokes give more vividness and momentum.

Storyboards are also a great practical instruction book for those who want to become an animation writer. Not only how to divide the frames and how to move the person, but also detailed explanations and instructions to the person in charge that can be seen here and there in the conte. As I read them, the animation writer realizes that it is not enough to draw only the pictures well. He makes full use of words more than pictures. It can be said that the accumulation forms the movie "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". A must-read for Nausicaa's work theory by Mieko Okada (animation researcher) in the monthly report. Keep it simple and get the point. Especially the sword on the eve of the original birth is valuable.

You can read the storyboard after watching the movie, or vice versa. You should feel the freshness in the blueprints studded with techniques such as Miyazaki's "access to the itchy place". (Tatsu Fumizuki)
